Multiple images can be processed independently and the final results combiined, but when the camera sources are related, better results can be obtained by treating them togerther. One of the simplest examples is stereo vision, inspired by human binocular vision, where two images from slightly different angles allow depth perception. Photogrammetry is an extension of this taking multiple iamges, looking for common features and then using this to build a complete 3D model. Moving images in video offer further opportunities to match objects in successive frames to both improve recognition and perform activity recognition.
